The Results are In - AAR Time

Sports Business Class topic for today -

Reflection time. Take the time to assess, learn, and plan for the future regardless of the result.

This Festive period has delivered a variety of unique Sporting Events and unique Broadcasts of those events. These events, just like the competition on the field, court, ice, etc, have produced Winners and Losers. Now, let's dig into the AAR's. After Action Reviews are conducted by Navy Seals after every training, mission, or activity that can be learned from. The AAR asks three key questions.

  1. What replicable new learning did we gain from what went well?

  2. What replicable new learning did we gain from what did not go well?

  3. Drawing upon questions 1 and 2, what changes can we make to our processes to systematically improve our consistent tactical excellence?

Stated simply; what went well, what lessons can we draw on what didn't go well, and how will we modify our process moving forward.

So as we emerge from a cluster of large events, let's conduct an AAR for a few of the big ones.

The Rose Bowl (CFP Michigan v Alabama)

Field Pass Broadcast (McAfee) of Rose Bowl

NHL Winter Classic (Seattle v LasVegas)

NFL Nickelodeon (Chiefs v Raiders)

NBA on Christmas Day

Remember - What went well? What lessons can be learned from what didn't go well? What should be done in the future based on the experience?

Pick 2 events and go for it. Then share your thoughts.
